Stay cool anywhere: Solar-powered portable AC that runs for 20 hrs on battery unveiled

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts and mobile workers, the Mark 3 features a dual-hose system and a quieter, custom-designed micro twin-cylinder compressor for enhanced cooling.

At CES 2025, ZERO BREEZE, a company based in the United States, introduced its Mark 3 portable air conditioner, setting new standards in both power and portability. This advanced air conditioning unit is designed to keep you cool wherever you are, whether you’re camping in the wild or working outdoors.

The Mark 3 combines cutting-edge technology with user-friendly features to deliver superior cooling performance.

A new era of outdoor cooling

ZERO BREEZE is no stranger to portable air conditioners, and with the success of its previous model, the Mark 2, the company has raised the bar even higher with the Mark 3.

This next-generation air conditioner is designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, but it’s not limited to just campers. “We started off making the portable air conditioner as a solution for outdoor camping people, right? But as we go on these years, we are noticing that more and more construction workers, small businesses, data centers, RV people, and even truck drivers are becoming big customers,” explained YUI from ZERO BREEZE to Interesting Engineering (IE).

This shift indicates that the Mark 3 is aimed at anyone who needs effective portable cooling for various outdoor and mobile settings.

Impressive features and performance

The Mark 3 offers a compact design and enhanced portability, making it easy to take along on any adventure. Weighing less than similar units, it comes with an ergonomic handle that allows for easy transport, whether you’re heading out to a campsite or simply cooling down in the back of your truck.

Powered by a rechargeable battery, the unit can run for 7 to 10 hours on a single charge, or up to 20 hours with two stacked batteries. Additionally, it has a solar panel charging port, giving users the option to recharge the batteries with solar panels while on the go.

“It runs on batteries as well as AC plugs. It has 5000 BTUs,” said a company representative, describing the unit’s core features. “On one battery, it runs for 7 to 10 hours, and with two batteries stacked, it runs for 14 to 20 hours.” The Mark 3’s flexibility in power sources makes it ideal for remote outdoor activities and off-grid use.

Efficiency and convenience in one package

The Mark 3 is designed for both maximum efficiency and ease of use. One of its standout features is the dual-hose system, which provides better cooling compared to single-hose units by continuously circulating fresh air. This ensures a more comfortable environment, especially in hot and humid conditions. For those who prefer targeted cooling, the front air outlet hose can be directed to concentrate cool air on specific areas, such as on you, your pets, or your family.

Inside the unit, a custom-designed micro twin-cylinder compressor makes the Mark 3 even more impressive. The compressor is quieter and more stable than previous models, while still delivering powerful cooling despite the unit’s compact size. The evaporator and condenser have also been tailored for maximum cooling power, ensuring that every inch of the unit contributes to its performance.

When it comes to the user experience, ZERO BREEZE has incorporated several key improvements. The Mark 3 offers seven modes, including a strong “Rocket” mode for rapid cooling and a quieter “Sleep” mode for when you need rest. The optional “Care” mode takes it a step further, adjusting the temperature to ensure maximum comfort in varying conditions. Users can easily control the Mark 3’s settings with the wireless remote, which works from up to 33 feet away.

The built-in thermostatic control lets you set your desired temperature between 61°F and 82°F, and the unit will maintain that perfect level of coolness throughout the day.

Additionally, the Mark 3 features automatic drainage, which detects rising water levels and automatically pumps it out, eliminating the need for manual intervention.

Pricing and availability

The Mark 3 comes at a competitive price point for those seeking high-performance portable cooling. The base unit without the battery costs $1,399, while the version with a single battery is priced at $1,899. For even longer battery life, the dual-battery pack is available for $2,399.

The Mark 3 also offers optional accessories such as solar panels, portable coffee makers, and power stations, all available for purchase through the company’s website.
